TARA

An internal GenAI tool designed for Tax employees to simplify research, reduce costs, and increase efficiency and accuracy over traditional processes.

Tax practitioners spend too much time and money on research, often sifting through irrelevant materials. To address this, we designed TARA, a GenAI-powered tool that streamlines tax research using trusted sources like the Income Tax Act, CRA documents, and court cases.

As the lead designer on the project, I collaborated with subject matter experts, a junior designer and developers to shape the end-to-end experience. From discovery and user flows to prototypes, testing, and design handoff.

I conducted discovery sessions with tax SMEs to identify pain points and designed user flows and prototypes, iterating based on feedback. Following that, a detailed design system was created for common components for the tool

Designed all screens and flows, presented them to clients and stakeholders, and collaborated with developers to ensure technical feasibility.

Some features weren’t possible on mobile. We designed a simpler version of the tool to cater to mobile-users.
